The premise is delightful and intriguing, despite it not being the first film to explore this idea. What makes this short stand out is the beautiful, genuinely delivered final dialogue that holds the emotional core of the film.

‘4th Dementia’ takes you by the shoulders through its first act of a joyful, fun and colourful roller coaster and then dangles you over a deep abyss, dementia’s cruelty becoming most evident.

The set and costume design are a joy to look at, the transitions are inventive and the lead actress manages the balancing act between different lives masterfully.

Ultimately, the ride ends in a familiar place, and gravity has caught a hold of us once again but we see the world a bit differently now. And isn’t that what any filmmaker hopes to achieve?
