My beef with Yorgos: Why I'm not reviewing Bugonia
In a piece I removed from public view a few years ago, I detail why his type of filmmaking doesn't work for me, and why Yorgos himself has become persona non grata on OBSCURAE despite all of his collaborators being filmmakers I love and respect.

Let us begin with a quick media literacy lesson for those less inclined. Part of loving movies is hating movies. I don't like to hate movies often, but sometimes a few do come along.
Passionate response is always worth noting, analysing and discussing. Not liking a film doesn't mean I wish for that person to stop making them, or that they are a morally wrong person (that's a whole different charge I can levy). I am not in the business of cancelling – I leave that to my white male counterparts to inevitably do to me one day, for no reason other than spite.
This is a critique for the sake of sharing an opinion in a free country – while it is still free. Speaking of free - this will be paywalled because I need to keep the lights on! £5/mo or £50/yr with a free OBSCURAE 20oz mug. Thank you!
