It's like I never left.
Dear Reader,
Despite everything having changed, somehow TIFF feels exactly as it did when I came last year - as if the festival just kept going from last year. The same volunteers, the same venues, the same outfits, the same intro clips. The same brands, the same Red Carpets, the same beauty.
Somehow - new people, new movies, and new opportunities. I didn't know how to get invited to an afterparty before, but I got invited to two (and I'm throwing another two parties myself!). We have Elliana on Camera and Written, and our brand new Superstar, Anika Williams-Hewitt, covering a wealth of films I could never catch on my own.
This year, the films seem more experimental, more risky - and that's not always paying off. Through our reviews we're going to filter what we think is worth giving a really good span of your attention - what will challenge you, uplift you, understand you.
I am exhausted already - I'm having the time of my life. I hope you enjoy our coverage!
