Let’s get the obvious out the way — Henry Golding is dazzling in this, and the cast that surround him in his star turn are steadfast, subtle and skilled. The story is as heartbreaking as you’d expect, and the story is highly satisfying.

What I want to touch on as a point of importance is the way that visuals are employed in this film. Trust me — you need to see this film for the visuals alone. Playing with mediums, nostalgia, and reality in much the same way ‘I saw the TV Glow’ did — to fabulous effect.

This is a movie that made me want to make a movie - it takes its time, and maybe in some spots a little too much, but as it unfolds it becomes more and more enriching that the film took its time to evolve.

The ending will leave you thinking. The beginning of the credits will make you cry.
