TW: Sexual Assault, R*pe, the UK Justice System
On the surface, this play is quite one dimensional - incredibly predictable, even. You know, even just from the warnings, what is about to happen.
The play doesn’t need to surprise you to make you think, though. The story becomes immersive, as if you’re living the very decision making that Tessa is. There are no shocking twists and turns - the story is exactly what you would expect it to be.
But to live the story with such a fleshed out detail, to have to go through each terrible moment stop by stop, is a transformative experience.
All the awards were earned in earnest, and Jodie Comer was fantastic.
Reccomended for people who enjoy theatre that doesn’t shy away from politics or statement or prose.
Not reccomended for those who would be triggered by the material.
